TRIED AND TESTED: NANDO'S SUMMER MENU

Take a moment to imagine my face when one of my fellow Hull Bloggers asked me if I wanted to go and try out the new Summer menu at Nandos last week.. Then imagine my face when this was brought over to our table..

The night started off by being introduced to the new Summer spritzers which are a similar idea to Sangria but much lighter. There's a choice of white, red and rose and are all under £10, finished off with tonnes of fresh fruit. With only 250ml of wine per jug, you're still safe to drive afterwards as well, winner winner! This was swiftly followed by the new sharing platters that are served on Nando's own handmade ceramic plates which where gorgeous! Myself and one of the other girls shared this platter to ourselves. Perfectly cooked chicken as always, sweet potato wedges, mixed grilled vegetables, and a lighter take on their original coleslaw, finished off with a side of multi grains. I didn't think for a moment I would have enjoyed the multi grains but they where to die for! A perfect mix of wheat berry, freekah, red quinoa, edamame beans, cannelloni beans, the list goes on. If you try one thing this season you have to try these. They come in regular, large and Nandino portions.

If that wasn't enough, we then indulged on the salted caramel and peri-peri brownies. They're the perfect size and come with vanilla gelado for an extra £1.50, making the perfect combination. Good food, and great company - what else can I ask for?

A huge thank you to Callum from Nando's for organising the event for us - it's safe to say we will all be back soon. Keep an eye out on my YouTube channel for some footage of the evening!

*This post was in collaboration with Nandos for their Summer menu launch paid for via meal expenses, however all thoughts and opinions are my own.

MY FAVE WORKOUTS FOR: GLUTES

After my first favourite workout post went down so well, it's only right to follow it up with everyone's love/hate leg day exercises to get those defined legs and toned booty. Now the days I train glutes are usually on leg day, but I'm going to keep those posts separate or I'll be here forever. So, unless you were born with the body of Megan Fox, we all know that without working out one part of your body you can't neglect the area next to it. For example, there's no point in working on your arms unless you're going to train shoulders too.. Get me?

Let me stop rambling and get to the main reason your here, the actual workouts.. Well for a start you're going to need some pretty sturdy trainers, and yes you're going to have to do some actual weights - those peachy bum cheeks won't tone themselves. I usually hit the gym and start with 20 minutes of cardio on the treadmill just to get the blood flowing and to shed some calories, this is followed by one of my top exercised and that's the leg press. Find yourself a comfortable weight and vary between a wide and narrow stance, for 12 reps upping the weight after each set - the heavier you go the more of a burn you'll feel but it's so worth it!

This is normally followed by some sort of squat, be it on the Smith machine or just with free weights - push yourself and go for 4 reps of 12. You'll be quivering afterwards but it doesn't stop just yet.. Now this is by far the most effective move that I've found to really target the upper glutes, you know - the one that means you struggle to sit down the next day? HIP THRUSTS. Rest your back and shoulders on a bench, with your feet and bum on the floor, grab a weighted plate (I usually go for 10kg) and lift yourself using only your glutes and squeeze at the top for the ultimate burn. These start off relatively easy but are the most difficult of all when you get round to the last set.

Aaannd finally, the one that will get the weirdos staring and your hamstrings and booty burning - cable pull throughs. This is so much easier to explain if you just search for it on YouTube but it basically requires you to straddle the cable pull on a multi weights machine and pull it through your legs at a super heavy weight. Then repeat the whole circuit all over again!

I'd love to hear your thoughts on these moves, especially if you try them and how you get on! Be sure to check out my YouTube channel subscribe if you're feeling nice - go on.. It's free!

MY TOP 3 ACTIVE WEAR BRANDS

After running a poll on Twitter, all the thirsty followers voted that this should be the first of three posts to go live.. If you're not following me on Twitter you're clearly missing out on life changing decisions..

Since I've been on my fitness journey since January of this year, it's safe to say that I've tried and tested sooo many fitness brands in order to find the best kind of clothing for my workouts. It all started with the post I did with Matalan and their Souluxe range back in February (see the full post hereand if I'm honest that's what started with a fully fledged obsession. I find it easier to put together awesome outfits for the gym than I do for every day life! (I wish I was joking...)

Now I'll start by saying that you can really spend as much or as little as you want when it comes to active wear. For instance, the grey trainers in the first image are from Aldi and they cost less than £12 and are incredible - yet on the other hand, comes one of my first top brands as one of my favourite pair of leggings are from Fityque with a RRP of £42.99. Now thanks to the fantastic team at Fityque, they sent me a pair to try out and I'm not even joking when I say that they're worth every penny if you're looking to invest in some high quality leggings.

Next up is sports bras. Lets be brutally honest here girls, if you're doing any form of exercise, be it cardio or weights; you need to keep those bad boys in place. I'm not at all busty nor will I ever be, but I made the mistake many years ago of not wearing a sports bra to the gym and I felt like my boobs were about to fall off my chest. I love Primark for their sports bras, they're super cute and affordable and have recently released a tonne of new designs which I can't wait to get my hands on!

Finally comes these killer leggings from My Protein. The holy grail of all active wear, protein, supplements - you name it, they got it. Now in terms of price it probably comes in the middle between Primark and Fityque - but they have some incredible designs and the quality is unbelievable. Each time pay day rolls around I have to refrain from making another order before my sports wardrobe takes over my everyday wardrobe. Check out what they have to offer here and let me know if you've tried any of their pieces so far!

I'd love to hear from you guys in the comments what your favourite active wear brands are, because lets be fair - I enjoy any excuse to buy new gym clothes. Be sure to check out my YouTube channel as well and subscribe if you're new!

MY FAVE WORKOUTS FOR: ABS

So I asked you guys on Twitter if there was anything in particular you wanted to see in terms of fitness related posts and one of you suggested my favourite/best workouts for abs! Now by no means am I a professional in this kind of thing but since my last fitness progression post went down so well, I'm going to let you in on a few of my current faves! Most of these exercises can be completed at home, but I've popped a little asterix next to the ones that you'll need equipment for - and I've added a few videos along the way due to my not so great describing skills.

Now you're going to want to grab yourself a well fitting pair of leggings. I usually go for my Fityque Black leggings to ensure everything stays in one place, especially if my top rides up - however for the first exercises you shouldn't have to worry too much. Abs to be - meet Leg Raises.. This workout is perfect for at home and a lot harder than they look! Be sure to keep your abs tight and your heels together, as you raise both legs from the a 90 degree angle to around 6 inches above the floor. For an extra challenge, raise the legs to a 45 degree angle and back down to the 6 inches to feel that deep burn!

Next up is one of my absolute favourites and that's Russian Twists. This was one of the first abs exercises I started doing when I re-joined the gym and it's the one I usually burnout with at the end of a workout. You will need a kettle bell of your choice - I usually go for a 6-8kg kettle bell and a mat to rest your booty on. Simply rock back onto the top of your bum, cross your ankles in the air and twist from side to side using the kettle bell. I aim for 4 reps of 12 or with a lighter weight until failure.

Obliques Side Raises.. Prepare to feel the burn!! These by far give me the biggest burn the next day and no joke I have these to thanks for melting away my muffin top and giving my more defined obliques recently. I grab a 15kg weighted plate and slide my arm down the side of my thigh (stood up of course) and pull myself back up slowly, using only the strength of my abs. 4 reps of 12 and I'm usually dead and making embarrassing noises!

And finally, the last workout I'm going to share with you is Weighted Incline Sit Ups, with a twist. Now regular sit ups have never been a thing for me. I find them super boring to do, and never saw any results from them so that idea went in the bin - that was until I saw someone doing Weighted Incline Sit ups and it basically is what it says on the tin. Grab yourself an incline bench, a weighted plate (I usually go for 10-15kg) and, slowly but with a super tight core - bring yourself up the bench like a regular sit up, and when you reach the top be sure to turn from left to right once on each side and lower yourself back down. Repeat until failure.. Or tears, whichever comes first. Now trust me, I did these on Friday morning and it's not Sunday evening and I'm still sore. Come on abs I can feel you under there!

Let me know what your favourite exercises are, and I'd love to hear which favourite workout post is that you'd like to see next! Be sure to check out my YouTube channel and Instagram, as I'm on holiday next week so will be posting like crazy.

MY FITNESS JOURNEY SO FAR.. PART 1

So last week, marked 12 weeks into my fitness journey. Most people say that after 12 weeks is when your body is used to the changes you have made and you will notice the most fair results, rather than dropping a few pounds in the first weeks after changing your diet. Now, I didn't think I'd ever be the kind of person that fell in love with the gym, working out and eating healthy but it happened! Once you start seeing the results you aimed for, I found its became a hobby rather than a chore - so I'm sharing with you my journey in the 12 weeks so far and a few things I've done to achieve my results. By no means am I fitness professional or a dietitian so please don't take anything I'm saying too seriously, and of course if you want better results please see a personal trainer or your doctor!

So, week one was a lot easier than I expected - the motivation was there and everything felt fresh and new and I was determined to work my ass off to get to where I wanted to be. After years of hating my body and not doing anything about it, the drive to change is what really started. I was at the gym maybe twice a week, doing a bit of cardio and a few leg presses - nothing substantial but it helped! I said goodbye to bread and crisps and continued eating as I had been doing.

The next couple of weeks didn't see much change so after reading that weight loss was 80% diet and 20% exercise - I cut out the chocolate... And Lord help me this was the hardest thing ever. The cravings hit so bad and I felt lethargic and had zero energy at the gym or at work. I learned the hard way that going cold turkey on sugars was not the right idea. Trial and error is the best way to learn what your body does and doesn't need so I let myself have a bit of chocolate here and there and it no longer does me any harm.

After a couple of months I really noticed I had plateaued - my figure wasn't changing and that's because neither was I. My workouts remained the same and so did my diet - time to switch things up again!... I hit the weights harder with lower reps, made sure I was getting in 10-15 minutes of cardio each time I went to the gym and I upped my protein game. I picked myself up a tonne (not literally) of whey protein, some protein bars to snack on and kill my chocolate cravings and the only thing I've been drinking is water and soya milk. Goodbyyyeee muffin top! My main problem areas started melting away, I had more energy and I felt fantastic still being able to treat myself every now and then to a burger or fries. My regular diet has been totally stripped down, limiting myself to chicken, steak, veggies and rice.. It sounds boring but throw in some spices or homemade sauces and it's really not that boring!

I'm now at around week 13 and I'm training 4-5 times a week, I take pre-workout from Monster Supplements whenever I'm hitting up leg day just to give me that extra boost and I'm also doing Blogilates Extreme Abs workout whenever I fancy a bit more of a challenge at home.

I've added my 12 week before and after pictures and hopefully in another 12 weeks I will be feeling leaner and healthier and I'll update you guys again!

Let me know in the comments if you'd like to see a part 2 of my fitness journey including workouts, the best brands to buy from and more tips!

MARCH BIRCHBOX

Aaannd, it's that time again! My March Birchbox landed on my doorstep a few days ago, but being bed bound with a nasty sickness bug has meant it's taken a while to get round to reviewing this months box so I'll keep it short and sweet!

First up was the Model Co - More Brows (RRP £13.00), which was one of my favourite products from this month. The staying power of this brow gel is to die for, and the shade is a perfect match for my eyebrows! You leave it to dry for 60 seconds and you're done - I apply a little bit of brow pencil and they're complete.

Next in my box was my favourite product by far, and that was the This Works Pillow Spray (RRP £16.00). Now Would I pay £16.00 for a pillow spray? Probably not, but for the times I finish work super late and have trouble getting to sleep this stuff really does work. A light misting over my pillows and I'm flat out in minutes 10/10 for any of you that struggle to get to sleep at night!

Thirdly, was unfortunately a product I was less impressed by and that was the Polaar Moisturising Gel (RRP £25.90). For me this mouisturiser was just too lightweight and felt like I was applying a toner rather than a moisturiser, and especially at £25.90 for the full size I won't be repurchasing it!

Next was the Philip B Straightening Baume (RRP £20.00) Now for someone who has naturally straight hair this probably wasn't the right product for me, although the texture and the scent of this was lovely. A pre-blowdry product to smooth out your hair and make it super sleek!

And finally - the Amika Nourishing Mash (RRP £19.99) the only product I haven't tried this month comes in the form of this lovely hair mask, enriched with buckthorn berry and jojoba oil repairs your hair in minutes! Be sure to stay tuned for my thoughts on this mask once I've used it.

PET PEEVES AT THE GYM

I'm writing this as I tuck into my over night oats after a crazy session at the gym and I've decided that there are a lot of things that irritate me at the gym, so say hello to my pet peeves! Be sure to Tweet me if you feel the same, I'd love to hear what annoys other people!

Image: Pinterest

1. People who wear the wrong workout gear. Trust me, those Timberlands and snapbacks are not helping you workout. You look like a tool.

2. The guys that "spot" each other but infact just sit around on Tinder matching with anyone and everyone that shows up, and talking about how much of a "lad" they are.

3. People who don't clean the equipment. You wouldn't dribble on a table and not clean it up, so don't put your sweaty back on the benches and then up and leave..

4. Equipment hoarders. They sit on the floor, take one of everything (surprisingly in every weight you require), and use none of it. Please just take one thing at a time if you're not going to use it all.

5. The kind of people who stand in the mirrors and take pictures of themself. Can you not wait until you get home?

6. The Grunters.. I say no more.

7. Not re-racking weights or putting things back where they belong. Everyone in this gym knows where the things are that they want - weights do not belong dumped in a corner, don't be lazy.

8. The children.. Now I'd love to know if it's just me that witnesses this - but my gym at the moment is full of 17 (ish) year olds, messing around and standing on machines together, and just generally getting in the way. How do you find the money for a gym membership!? Someone explain please.

9. Those women who turn up to the gym with their group of friends and take up a tonne of treadmills, walking for 20 mins at the slowest speed talking about their lives like Desperate Housewives. Would you like me to get you a cup of tea to go with that intense workout?

10. And finally.. The thing I noticed for the first time today. The starer. Yep you heard that right! As I was doing my abs workout today, each time I sat up, this guy was just sat staring at me. Worrying - I know.

FEBRUARY BIRCHBOX

Well, well, well - haven't I been a naughty blogger. I've had this post open with these pictures taken and edited for around two weeks now but I've simply not been able to find the motivation to start it! I've had a mini vacation from my YouTube channel since I filmed and edited a great video but was unable to upload it due to a corrupt file and if I'm honest I was very close to giving up. I couldn't however - bare myself to discard these images as I was so happy with how they turned out so if you made it this far.. Well done.

If you didn't know by now, each month I work along side the company All Subscription Boxes. Which as you can tell in the title, is a website where you can find all the monthly subscription boxes you could think of - and each month they very kindly send me the well known Birchbox to try out.

This month saw the February Birchbox land on my doorstep, filled with goodies. Now, I'll be honest when I say that I wasn't as impressed as my January Birchbox, however the products where still worth trying! My favourite being the Ayres body butter. I have no idea what the scent of this cream is but I want it in everything, perfume, candles, reed diffusers; I'm obsessed. I also found the Spectrum powder brush to be amazing! It's not dense enough to be used for contour, however for highlight or powder it's perfect. Think soft bristles, gorgeous packaging. What more can you ask for?

Something I was quite underwhelmed by, was the blusher from The Balm Cosmetics.. Although the shade looks gorgeous - and as someone that doesn't usually go for blushers I was excited to try it out. The size of the sample on the other hand, is so small that I don't think I have a blusher brush the right size to even pick up any of the product!

Did you recieve a Birchbox in February? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! Be sure to check out the allsubscriptionboxes website here and sign up for your favourite box.

HOW TO: COCONUT PROTEIN BALLS

Unless you've been hiding under a rock since January 1st 2016, you'll know I'm on a huge health kick/lifestyle change this year and this is one of my many recipies I'll be sharing with you if you're going through the same change as me!

January saw me introducing Apples and Peanut Butter, (still a firm favourite!) followed by the delicious Homemade Protein Pancakes and now these fantastic Coconut Protein Balls. If you're still trying to tame the devil that is your sweet tooth then these are perfect. They take a little longer to prepare than my other two alternative snacks but the method is straight forward.

For these balls you will need:

1 Scoop of vanilla protein powder
50g Desiccated coconut
Honey
Chopped nuts
Cashew or peanut butter
Coconut oil

You know the drill by now.. Take all your ingredients, and throw them in the blender! Empty the combined ingredients and roll them into balls of your desired size. Topped with dates and more coconut and you're good to go. Unlike me, if you have some self discipline then you can simply pop them into the fridge and snack on them for around 3-4 days. I on the other hand gobbled them all in 24 hours and then felt very guilty and headed to the gym to work on my abs! Let me know if you try these out, either in the comments or just tweet me!

CRAVING CHANGE

*Image from Pinterest

As someone who usually hates the thought and stress of change, be it a job, moving house or even getting a haircut - this seems like a bizzare post for me to be writing. I've been unbeleivably positive this year compared to the last, but I'm craving a whole new flat, with the money to redecorate and not have all the damp problems and worries about bills and rent that I have at the moment. My temporary solution? Save money and try get a housemate.. (if you want to live with the best person ever.. Me - send me an email).

I want a new car, but have absolutely no reason to get one seeing as though I only use mine once a week or so. Do I sell up and save the money? Or just keep plodding along with my current one? Someone help. I love the freedom of going whenever, and wherever but it's one more expense that I'm wondering if I can afford at the moment.

I wanted to change the way I looked for a long time last year and I've beaten my own ass at the gym this year and I'm already seeing the benefits, from improved skin to a bigger booty. Not all changes have to be expensive or materialistic. I didn't think I'd be this happy from working out a few times a week and cutting out the crap foods from my life. I really love hearing your opinion on my fitness posts, and weather or not you're interested in reading them so pleeaaase let me know!

I'm not really to sure what the point in this post was. Maybe to just get some advice from any of you that are feeling the same at the moment. Am I just becoming an adult or am I getting bored?

Don't forget to check out all my social media links to stay up to date with upcoming posts, and see what I get up to on a daily basis.

DREAMING OF SUMMER

As I sit writing this it's blowing an absolute gale outside and pouring with rain, however that doesn't stop me browsing the internet for Instagram perfect bikinis and boho holiday wear for my trip to Majorca in April. However, the one thing I always struggle with is sunglasses, because I have high cheek and brow bones I never seem to be able to find a pair that are comfortable and suit my long head!

I was contacted by Sunglasses Shop a while back and asked if I wanted to review a pair of their London Retro sunglasses range, and as it was during Autumn, they never really got a full trial but after trying a few outfits with them I'm in love! I went with the tortoise shell style and they're the perfect shade for my skin tone, and with a tan I can image they will look fantastic. They've got the ideal amount of tint, to avoid any of that unattractive squinting in the sun and of course they'll protect your eyes from the UV rays.

If you want to check out their full range, just click this link! Have you got a holiday booked for this year yet? I'd love to hear where you're travelling to in the comments.

FEELING SOULUXE

If like me, you're still on the 2016 fitness train then this post is ideal for you. As someone who is always concious of their body, especially when working out - I like to wear flattering but practical outfits to the gym. Something breathable but that won't show up sweat patches. The Souluxe range from Matalan is perfect for all my workouts, weather its super hot cardio, serious squatting sessions or even a quick walk. They leave me sweat mark free, and keep me feeling stylish at the gym.

Everything from the Soluxe range is made from an amazing material which means that they maintain their quality, even when washed multiple times throughout the week! For the first time in my life I've had people at the gym ask me where my leggings were from and couldn't believe it when I told them they where from Matalan and not some more high end brand such as Nike or Fabletics. It also comes at no surprise if you know me, that you'll know how loyal I am to a brand once I decide I love their pieces and it's safe to say I'll be sticking to this range for a long time to come!

I've found that wearing better clothes to the gym strives me to workout harder and it really shows off the areas of your body that you're working and makes you really wanna get that Kim K booty. I've been hitting up the gym a few times a week and eating better for just over a month now and I thought I'd also share with you my progress picture for January, if you click this link here. I'm nowhere near where I want to be, but as I said to my friend the other day "Slow progress is better than no progress".

Let me know your thoughts on seeing more fitness posts, and as always if there's something you'd like to see on my blog then let me know in the comments!

HOW TO: PROTEIN PANCAKES

If you saw my last post here about eating alternative snacks/meals in order to get into shape this year, you'll know that this is going to be a little series I'm starting to hopefully motivate myself and you guys if you need that extra little kick up the bum to get toned for summer!

I've got so many events to look forward to this year and one of them is a holiday to Majorca with my mum in April, and I wanna be looking and feeling a little better than I do currently. So healthy eating combined with working out whenever I get the chance will hopefully have the desired effects!

So without further wait, let me introduce you to Protein Pancakes. Holy smokes. If you can't tell already the main thing I struggle with is my sweet tooth, but these are ideal for that! I either have them for breakfast on my days off or as a snack after a serious gym session.

To make these pancakes, you will need:

50g Oats
Milk (of your preference)
Protein Powder - Vanilla
Peanut Butter
2 Eggs

For toppings:

Natural Yoghurt
Nuts, Seeds and Fruit are optional!

Chuck it all in a blender or smoothie maker to combine all the ingredients and cook as you would a normal pancake! I find that adding a tiny bit of coconut oil to the pan first makes them cook perfectly.

I'd absolutely love it if you guys tried out this recipe and let me know how you got on! Be sure to tag me on Instagram, or Tweet me and I'll reply to every comment and post!

CUTTING THE CRAP-PLES

I was going to start this post by body shaming myself and saying how gross I feel and that I'm aiming to be a healthier happier person this year, but I've been so positive so far in 2016 that I'm cutting the crap and I'm just gonna roll with it.

I've been trying out a tonne of new recipes this year in order to improve my health and fitness and I have so much determination to get to where I want to be, however - my main downfall for me is my eating habits, I work in a job that means being on my feet for 9 hours a day on average so when I come home I binge on naughty food when watching Netflix and chilling with my friends. Sooo I took it upon myself to find some healthier alternatives to change the poor lifestyle I was leading before and this is the first!

Now I can't be the only one that craves chocolate on an everyday basis? Like I'm not even joking I have the biggest sweet tooth ever! I went to the gym a few days ago, came home and cooked up a delicious stir fry, sat down to watch some YouTube videos and BAM there was the craving. Like someone has slapped me around the face with an invisible bag of Reece's PB cups! I resisted temptation and started raiding the cupboards like a mad woman in attempt to find a healthier alternative. A couple of days previous I had just done a super healthy M&S shop, so had a fruit bowl brimming at the edges and I spotted the peanut butter in the cupboard.. You know what happened next. Apple slices with peanut butter. Holy moly, don't get me wrong I'd still chose Reece's any day but they're pretty good and also a much better alternative!

*Image from Pinterest

It's so simple, you literally chop up an apple into however many pieces you desire and add a hhuge dollop of peanut butter. Voila! I don't know how I managed to write an entire post dedicated to apples and PB but if you're looking to make one change this year, try cutting out the chocolate a little and replacing it with these bad boys. I'd love to hear from you if you try it out - just Tweet me @Charlotte Rumsby.

I'm also still running my Twitter giveaway, for £30 worth of Luxemme vouchers so be sure to check that out if you fancy entering! Thank you so much for all the support on my blog and YouTube channel over the past couple of weeks too, keep your eye out for a little surprise when I hit my 2 year blogging birthday!
