MARCH ROUNDUP

Back in February I did a "This year so far" post and I really enjoyed re-capping what I had got up to throughout the month so we're back with the same style post for March. It has been another manic month and so much has happened, starting off with one of my best friends returning home from Australia after 2 years, I visited The Deep in Hull, my nephew turned 2 years old! (how do they grow up so fast?) I finally got my own camera as a generous early 21st present from my mum and her partner, I attended a Lush event and finally it was my brothers 25th birthday. I've really learnt to appreciate my family and friends this month because they're always there at the end of the day when you need someone to talk to. A big thank you to any of you reading this. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram to see more pictures like this.

BLUEBERRY AND PEANUT BUTTER SMOOTHIE

If you follow me on Instagram you'll have seen how obsessed I've been by my new Active Blend and that I've been trying a tonne of new recipes - of which I thought I would share with you. I hope you don't mind this being a little different to the rest of my posts but I thought I'd give it a shot! My plan was to introduce some healthy smoothie recipes to my blog but I couldn't help by starting it off with this rather naughty one. Perfect for when you're craving something sweet but don't want to feel too guilty.

You will need:

Almond milk
1 banana
a handful of frozen blueberries
1 table spoon of smooth peanut butter

There's no fancy method behind this recipe, just chuck it all in the Active Blend and top with a few more blueberries - simple! Tweet me your pictures @charlotterumsby if you give it a go yourself.

WEEKDAY WIND DOWN

Working in hospitality means my "weekends" always fall mid week, and the days off are never together. So at least once a week I aim to have a complete Netflix filled pamper night. I used to simply take a long shower and blather myself in moisturizer then hop in to bed until I came across this duo.

My friend Laura hosted an Arbonne night not long ago and I picked up the FC5 foot creme but was forgetting to use it until now. I use it straight after this amazing foot scrub I got from an event night at Lush and my feet feel like I'm 18 months old again. A fresh lick of nail polish and I'm a new woman - I'm really into nudes and greys at the moment so I'm usually reaching for something like Lychee or Pit Stop both by Barry M.

What are some of your favourite things to do on pamper night? Don't forget I'm over on Instagram too, and I'm super happy with how my pictures have turned out recently!

SPEEDY NAILS FOR SPRING

I am probably the worst person on earth at painting my nails and not letting them dry before I do something. Even itching my nose seems to spread nail polish across the back of my hands and my face but I can never seem to sit still and wait for them to dry. I picked up the Barry M Speedy nail polishes the other week in my local Superdrug and its been hard not to go back and pick up every shade. They dry super fast, making them perfect for people like me who find 101 jobs to do straight after I've painted my nails.

I picked up the colour Pit Stop and so far it's been amazing. The only thing I find a bit strange is the consistency.. You know when you've not used a nail polish in ages and it goes really gloopy and its time to throw it out? That's what these are like but a little runnier. I can only assume that's the reason they dry so fast but I have no idea about anything like that.

Will you be trying out this range?

THINGS BLOGGING HAS TAUGHT ME

It's simple, blogging is something that has completely taken off over the past couple of years and although I'm still new to the scene I thought I would share with you a few things that it has taught me.

1. You will work your ass off all week but it is so worth it
2. People will assume you write a few words now and then just for "free stuff"
3. You will get to know/meet some of the nicest people ever
4. Behind brands are real people - with genuine interests in what you do
5. People will think you're crazy when you take pictures of everything, everywhere you go
6. Your mum won't understand why you ask her to take pictures of you wearing a pair of shoes
7. A handful of people will completely ignore your blog until you mention you where sent something by a well known brand then they want to know everything
8. Even if you blog part time, be prepared to be bombarded with emails and tweets
9. People will assume you are a bag of knowledge when it comes to social media and website building. I do all my personal blog promotion and everything for where I work too..
10. With time you will learn new skills you never thought you would be interested in.

SPRING WARDROBE PREPARATIONS

No matter how much I try and prepare for upcoming seasons I always seem to get left behind and have no weather appropriate clothes eveerrrry year. This year I've decided to get ahead of the game and spend some hard earned pennies on some more Spring/Summer clothes and there are tonnes of things I want at the minute but I've managed to narrow it down to a handful to share with you all.

There's clearly some fringing, tunic, sleeveless kind of theme going on here but I can't help but be drawn to it all! Let me know what you're lusting over for SS15, any patterns or colours you're loving? Obviously I'm still obsessed with black, white and grey but I'm trying to test the waters and try some new things.

IN NEED OF A HELPING HAND

A few weeks back I attended a blogger meet up at the Lush store in Hull (see full post here) and one of the things I picked up was the Helping Hands Hand Cream. Working in hospitality means I'm forever washing my hands and generally neglecting them so I was in desperate need of something to save them, so I popped this into my basket.

It is definitely up there with one of the most intensely nourishing hand creams I have ever used, and rumor has it - it was deisgned for nurses who have really dry, over washed hands. I'm no nurse but washing my hands 10 million times a day is equally as tough. Being packed pull of cocoa butter, almond and chamomile means it smells divine but if you don't like sweet scents this probably isn't for you. Have you tried any of the Lush hand creams before?

CURRENT BROW ROUTINE

Can someone please re-assure me that I'm not the only person that is completely in love with Anastasia Brow Wiz but must have spent £70 in the past year because it runs out so fast? If so - you'll be happy to know I have a solution. Maybelline Brow Drama is the answer to your prayers. Firstly I've been building up the colour with the circular end of the wand until you reaching the desired shade and shape. Then I have been filling in the front of my brows and touching up the arch with the Brow Wiz and I'm done. No need to set with a brow gel as the Brow Drama already does that for you and you still get the perfect hair strokes you need with the Brow Wiz! I can see this making my Brow Wiz last so much longer, meaning I wont feel guilty every time I have to repurchase it.

What are your current brow favourites?

21ST BIRTHDAY WISHLIST

I've never been the kind of person that knows what they want for Christmas or birthdays, however this year I seem to have absolutely nailed my 21st birthday wishlist in April. Here's a sneak peak. (any friends or family reading take note..) Make sure you're following me on Instagram to see what I get up to for my birthday!

ORIGINS ZERO OIL CLEANSER

I think we all have those products that we buy then completely forget about. For me it usually results in ten tonnes of cotton pads but in this case it was the Origins Zero Oil deep pore cleanser*. My dad bought it back from the US ages ago for me and it was only the other day I found it and decided to try it straight away.

I find it hard to talk about such a simple product but this is completely different to any cleanser I have used before, most of which leave my skin feeling dull and dry. This Origins cleanser leaves my skin feeling silky and plump and made it so much easier for me to apply my make up after with a fresh surface. It has instantly replaced my Body Shop cleanser but with such a hefty price tag I wont be buying it for myself any time but it would make a lovely gift.

What cleansers are you currently using?

FEBRUARY FAVOURITES

I always found it easy to switch up the background for my images up until the past couple of weeks I cant seem to find any good lighting or anything flat to take my pictures on in the house, so we are back on my bed for this post... Apologies.

Much like January, February has absolutely flown by and we are somehow already a week into March.. I only had a few favourites from last month but I thought I would share them with you regardless.

The Body Shop Shea shower cream: This stuff is amazing. A small amount goes a really long way and it lathers amazingly in the shower. Its also perfect to use when shaving your legs, it creates the ideal barrier and leaves your skin feeling and smelling beautiful. I did a full review here if you want to know more.

Nivea extra rich lotion: I've been suffering with really dry skin/excema on my arms this year and this moisturizer teamed with the Shea body wash has been a life saver for my skin. It sinks in super fast which is perfect for me now I've set myself a limit for 20 minutes to get ready in  the morning! My mum has used Nivea creams for as long as I can remember so it's a nice little home comfort thrown in there too.

MAC Mythology: I think I'm late on the smokey pink eye look, I was convinced it made me look unwell until recent when I've received a tonne of compliments on my make up thanks to this bad boy. The pigmentation is great, I just wish it lasted on the lids for a bit longer.

And finally - The Primark Watch: Yep you heard that right - Primark. For only £5. It's exactly what I need for work, it's practical, goes with all my outfits, looks a lot more expensive than £5 and if it gets damaged I can just go back and grab another without a trace of guilt.

Will you be trying any of these favourites?

ETSY ENVY

I'm pretty new to the whole Etsy scene, for some reason I thought it was all hand made jewellery and strange odds and sods but I was wrong. And what a surprise I'm now left dreaming of filling my house with palm prints and fancy bowls, and draping throws over all the Scandinavian style furniture I don't have... I'd love to hear about your experiences with Etsy or are you still a newby like me?

EASTER AT LUSH

I'm not even sorry for how picture heavy this post is - if you've ever been to a Lush blogger event you'll know how hard it is to resist taking pictures of everything, especially when things are presented amazingly and everything has testers to draw you in.

I was contacted by the fabulous people at my Lush store in Hull and invited to their first blogger event a few days ago for a sneak peak into their Easter range and to test out some of the original products. It was a perfectly hosted evening, from us making our own products to the range of fresh fruit they had prepared for our arrival.

We where introduced to the Easter Collection firstly and let me tell you it was an absolute dream, with so many light, fruity, floral scents throughout the range. I picked up the Golden Egg* and the Carrot Soap* and I know its something you hear bloggers say all the time when it comes to describing the scent of things - but seriously you have to go in store and smell the Carrot Soap for yourself. I am completely in love with it, if they were up for selling the full bar I would happily have taken it home with me!

We where then split into two groups and got to make some of our own products. My group made the Angels on Bare Skin cleanser whilst the other group made a blueberry face mask. We all got to take a tub home with us and I can't wait to have a pamper when my next day off rolls round.

Keep your eyes peeled for a haul/review post on how I get on with these products plus a few more I picked up on the night. A big thank you again to the ladies that hosted the night for us, you were all fabulous and I can't wait to come back and clear your shelves of everything carrot related.

If you go into the Lush store in Hull and purchase anything, make sure you let them know you came from my blog and you'll get to bag yourself a free gift! I also took a tonne of separate photos for my Instagram so be sure to follow me on there for extra snippets of the night.
